Dressmaking with Pat Lucking
This class will suit both the beginner and the more advanced dressmaker as you work at your own pace within the classroom structure.
After your initial consultation with the tutor to establish what you would like to make, you work at your own pace.
With a machine per student and two overlockers in the classroom, there is never a wait for a machine. Your tutor is also on hand to help with alterations, and to help your pattern fit to perfection.
We run two groups, one on a Tuesday and one on a Thursday.
Sewing Basics
A day for real beginners to sewing on a machine. We will got though the basics of zips, seams, pockets, buttonholes and anything else that you would like to cover in the morning. Then in the afternoon you can attempt some of the more specialist feet on the machine.
Everything will be supplied on the day
Make Friends with your Sewing Machine
This class will cover all the basics for your Brother, Janome, Britannia or Juki sewing machine has to offer plus much more i.e. buttonholes, putting in zips, overlock edges and blind hem. This class is for customers who have a drop-in bobbin, basic electronic sewing machine. When booking, please confirm the make and model of your machine. This class is suitable for machines that have a screen, whether being big or small.
Overlocker 1
Learn how to understand your overlocker, with the basics of tensions and differential feed. You will discover different stitches and techniques that are achievable with your overlocker.
Overlockers, fabrics and threads are provided
If you have an airthreading (threads itself) overlocker, please let us know as you will need to bring it to the class.
Patchwork Club
Emma Armstrong has been teaching quilting classes and groups for over 10 years and has a wide range of knowledge in patchwork & quilting techniques.
Are you a interested in patchwork & quilting? Are you looking for a group of like-minded people to share projects and skills with?
Then look no further and come along to the Wednesday morning Patchwork & Quilting group. This group will meet once a month to share ideas and generally enjoy sewing together.
Tea and coffee in good supply.
Felt Classes
Welcome to our new felting course! We have a new tutor that is eager to get started. Whether you are beginners or not, this class will be suited for you. From some of the examples we have seen you will not be disappointed by the shear quality of item you will make. You will find that you will not want to put your felting needle down!!
You will be provided with a felting mat to use on the class and two felting needles. All you need to buy is the wool!!
Knitting Club
Our knitting classes run on a Friday and Saturday once a month and are still very popular with our customers. Any questions, queries or help that you need is sorted here. Although our staff will always try and help, Judith has the time to sit you down and work on your project sorting any problems as you go. Suitable for all levels
Juki DX Class
We will start the class by looking at the basics of needle threading, bobbin winding and changing the feet and needles. As your confidence grows we will move onto stitching. Both utility and decorative stitching on this machine is amazing. Then in the afternoon we will move onto the feet. The feet that come with your machine and those which are available to buy are the tools which make sewing easier. We will look at what each foot does and how you will use them.
You do not need to bring your machines with you for this class. You will be provided with them on the day
